Become a Lifeguard

 Interested in becoming a lifeguard? We offer two awards: the Junior Lifeguard Award (JLA) for ages 14-16 and the Lifeguard Award (LA) for ages 16 and older. Here are the details:

  Junior Lifeguard Award (JLA)
– Entrance Requirements:
 – Minimum age of 14 on the day of examination.
 – 400m pool swim in under 9 minutes.
 – Run-Swim-Run (200m-300m-200m) in less than 10 minutes in surf conditions.

Lifeguard Award (LA) – Ages 16 and older
– Purpose: Work as a professional lifeguard.
 – Entrance Requirements:
 – Minimum age of 16 on the day of examination.
 – 400m pool swim in under 8 minutes.
 – Run-Swim-Run (200m-300m-200m) in less than 10 minutes in surf conditions.

Additional Course Information
 – Course Content: Covers sea conditions, first aid, CPR, rescue techniques, signals, and radio communication.
 – Examination: Includes a written test, CPR assessment, Run-Swim-Run test, and rescue technique demonstration.
 – Instructors: Qualified instructors and paramedics lead the training.
 – Course Availability: Courses are offered year-round.

Training Details:

 – Location: Diaz Beach, Sundays from 12:00 to 14:00.

– Boys should wear jammers or speedos, and girls should wear swimsuits.

 Cost for the Year:
 – Membership Fees: R 850
 – Manual, POE, and Voguer R 550
 – Exam Fees: R 600
 – Total: R 2,000

Please download and complete the application and indemnity forms and bring them along to the club on Sundays during training.
