Nippers

The Nipper and Micro-Nipper program is a junior initiative designed to introduce children to surf and still water lifesaving activities. The program targets children between the ages of 5 to 7 for Micro-Nippers and 8 to14 for Nippers aiming to foster confidence, impart valuable life skills, and educate participants about the aquatic and marine environment.

Participation in Nippers offers a range of engaging activities focused on safety, fun, and skill development. These activities include surf safety and first aid, swimming, body board paddling (for ages under 10 and under 12), kneeboard or Malibu paddling (for ages under 12 and under 14), as well as beach activities such as running, relays, sprints, and flags.

Nippers may also participate in various competitions at Inter-Club, Provincial, and National Championships levels. Those who have achieved their Level Awards are eligible to participate in these events.

Overall, Nippers is a valuable junior activity program that not only teaches surf and water safety but also builds confidence, fosters friendships, and instills skills that can be carried forward into future life endeavors, including other sports and general life situations.
